What are Skin Tags?
Skin tags are small growths, or flaps of tissue, that stick out from the surface of the skin and are known as acrochordons. They could be the same color as the flesh or a little darker. They are typically 1 to 2 centimetres long, but they may grow larger. Normally, they do not cause any pain or irritation. They are grown on the skin on Underarms, On the neck, Eyelids and under the eye, in and around the groin area and Under the breast.
Causes of Skin Tags:
Aging: Our skin tends to lose its elasticity as we age. So aging can be a cause of your skin tags.
Friction: Your skin is prone to developing skin tags if there is too much friction or rubbing against a piece of clothing or jewellery.
Genetics: If any family member of yours has skin tags, you may have a higher risk factor of developing skin tags in your lifetime.
Obesity: People who are obese have more skin folds than usual, resulting in a higher intensity of rubbing which may lead to skin tags.
Pregnancy: Skin tags are also a common side effect of pregnancy. This may be due to pregnancy hormones and sudden weight gain.
Diabetes: If you suffer from diabetes then chances are you may develop skin tags eventually in your lifetime.
Seven Ways To Remove Skin Tags Naturally:
1: Tea Tree Oil: Tea tree oil has strong antiseptic properties and ability to kill fungal infections while soothing the skin. You just need to soak a small cotton swab in it and secure to the skin with a bandage. Remove after 15 minutes. Do this three times a day until the skin tag falls off on its own.
2: Apple Cider Vinegar: The acidity of apple cider vinegar breaks down the cells which cause the skin tag to shrink and fall off because its structure has been compromised. To use apple cider vinegar for skin tags, soak a cotton ball in vinegar. Rub it on the skin tag and leave it on your skin to dry, covered by a band-aid. Do this 2-3 times a day until the skin tag falls off.
3: Garlic: Garlic has antibacterial, antiviral, anti-fungal and anti-inflammatory properties so it may be really helpful to get rid of those tags. Simply crush one clove of garlic and soak it up with a cotton ball. Apply it at night to the skin tag and cover with a bandage. Wash it off in the morning to get rid of the smell.
